It's been a long season.
The winless conference streak officially ended Saturday night, Oregon beating the Stanford Cardinal at Mac Court, 68 - 60.
The magic was back at Mac Court. The rafters shook, the entire crowd stood for the final minutes, and for the first time this season the place seemed like "The Pit" again.
Even Bellotti was there.
(Fast Fact: Oregon's football coach has stated that his favorite sport isn't football. It's actually basketball.)
Face it fans, there hasn't been much to celebrate this season.
Something has been missing. Belief and excitment. Not just on the bench, but amongst the fan base. Both were restored, at least temporarily, on Saturday. Mac Court was once again packed. The crowd was loud, and the thrill was back. "The Pit" was rocking.
Last night's win showed this team can win, but also that these kids have a long way to go. They are still young, they missed a lot of shots that in years past would have been easy points, and the reality is that Oregon is last in the Pac-10 with an overall record of 7-20 (1-14 in conference play).
But for one night the magic was back at Mac.
Up next: Civil War with the suddenly resurgent Oregon State Beavers team (13-13, 7-8 in conference play) next Saturday at The Pit.
